💡 Key Takeaways for Parents
Gentle, individualised care: Every person and every nervous system is different. Our approach is adapted to the individual, whether we're caring for a newborn, a growing child, a parent or a whole family.
We look at the bigger picture: Rather than focusing only on where something hurts, we take time to understand your health history, development, everyday stresses and how your body may be adapting.
We assess before we recommend: Your first visits give us time to listen, assess and, where appropriate, use INSiGHT scans before discussing whether chiropractic care may be suitable for you or your child.
Welcome to Hope Family Wellness
If you've found your way here, you may be wondering what family chiropractic care actually is - and whether it could be right for you or your child.
Perhaps someone has recommended chiropractic care. Maybe you've been searching for ways to support your child's wellbeing. Or perhaps you're simply curious about why we talk so much about the nervous system.
Whatever brought you here, welcome.
At Hope Family Wellness, we specialise in caring for babies, children, pregnant and postpartum mothers, and families.
Our approach is gentle, thoughtful and centred around something that influences so much of what happens within the body: the nervous system.
Why Do We Talk So Much About the Nervous System?
Your nervous system is your body's communication network.
Your brain, spinal cord and nerves are constantly receiving information, processing what's happening around and within you, and coordinating an appropriate response.
From movement and sensation to digestion, sleep and your body's response to stress, your nervous system is involved in an extraordinary amount. And importantly, it is continually adapting. That ability to adapt is one of the reasons we look beyond a single symptom or area of discomfort.
We want to understand the person in front of us as a whole.
Chiropractic Care at Hope Family Wellness
Chiropractic care is centred around the relationship between the spine and nervous system.
At Hope Family Wellness, our care is gentle and adapted to the age, size and needs of the person we're caring for. An adjustment for a baby, for example, looks very different from an adjustment for an adult.
Our goal isn't to chase individual symptoms or promise that chiropractic care can "fix" a particular condition. Instead, we assess how the spine and nervous system are functioning and determine whether chiropractic care may be appropriate as part of supporting your family's overall wellbeing.
Why Do Families Come to See Us?
Families arrive at Hope for many different reasons.
Some parents first find us during pregnancy. Others bring their newborn in. Some come with older children and have started asking questions about their child's development, sleep, regulation or overall wellbeing.
We also welcome many children who experience the world a little differently, including children with autism, ADHD, PANS/PANDAS, sensory differences and other developmental or additional needs.
We understand that for some children, new environments, unfamiliar people, transitions or touch can feel overwhelming. There is no expectation for your child to sit still, behave a certain way or immediately feel comfortable with us. We take time to build trust, work at your child's pace and adapt the experience wherever we can.
And sometimes, parents initially come to Hope for their child and eventually decide they would like to be checked themselves.
Whatever brings your family through our doors, we start in the same place: By listening. Your story matters. Pregnancy, birth, development, previous injuries, health history, daily routines and the stresses your family is navigating can all help us understand the bigger picture.
Chiropractic care isn't a treatment for autism, ADHD or PANS/PANDAS. Our role is to provide gentle, individualised chiropractic care within our scope, while recognising and respecting the wider healthcare and therapeutic support your child may receive.
What Happens at Your First Visit?
We don't want your first appointment to feel rushed.
Your initial visit is an opportunity for us to learn more about you or your child and for you to ask questions about our approach.
Depending on the individual, this may include:
A detailed health and developmental history
A chiropractic examination
INSiGHT nervous system scans
Time to discuss your concerns and goals
An opportunity to understand what we've found and what happens next
We don't believe every person needs exactly the same care.
Once we've gathered the information we need, we'll explain our findings and, if we believe chiropractic care is appropriate, discuss our recommendations with you.
What Are INSiGHT Scans?
You may notice us talking about our INSiGHT technology quite a lot.
These non-invasive scans give us additional information about patterns relating to nervous-system function and help us establish a baseline that we can compare with future scans.
For parents, this can also make something that feels quite abstract - "the nervous system" - easier to understand and visualise.
We'll explain much more about these in another Family Guide.

A Different Kind of Healthcare Experience
One of the things we want families to feel when they walk into Hope is that they have time.
Time to explain what's been happening.
Time for their child to become comfortable.
Time to ask questions.
And time to understand the recommendations being made.
We know that bringing a baby or young child to a new environment isn't always straightforward. Children don't need to sit perfectly still or behave a certain way to be welcome here.
We're a family practice - and we want it to feel like one.
Our Hope for Your Family
Ultimately, Hope Family Wellness exists to create a place where families feel heard, supported and empowered to understand their health more deeply.
We want parents to leave with more understanding than they arrived with - whether they decide chiropractic care is right for their family or not.
And if you're just beginning to explore the nervous system and wondering what any of this has to do with your child's everyday life, that's the perfect place to go next.
